Private Jet Etiquette (Jetiquette)

Catching a ride on a Gulf Stream? Learn the essentials of private travel.  For optimum jet pleasure for first time (or repeat fliers), leave behind your airport anxiety and know the rules:

•   Arrive early.  You already have the luxury of no lines and no crowds, so forget showing up "fashionably late."  Late arrivals cause unnecessary costs for your host and delays for your flight, scheduled spa treatments and golf games.

•   Attire.  This is one case where business casual is the way to go for both ladies and gentlemen.  Remember the 3 B's:  be comfortable, behave and be seated!

•   Cell Phones.  If you are lucky enough to have one of the new cell phones that work 30,000 feet in the air, welcome to the 21st century.  Just remember to use it in the private dining room so as not to disturb your fellow napping passengers.

•   Crew.  Know your lingo:  the correct terminology is pilot not captain.

•   Food.  Just think, you can actually look forward to your next meal.  No more frozen rolls or banquet chicken.  Think of it as a "mile-high" dinner party.  Sky's the limit.

•   Hostess gifts. We take them to dinner parties, so why not in-flight?  The polite traveler will show appreciation on board with more than just a bar of soap or a bottle of wine.

•   Luggage.  So you can only bring one bag, what more do you want?

•   Movies.  Leave your DVD player at home.  Whether it be Hitchcock, Scorsese, or Spielberg, choose from a variety of movies from the video library.  You'll be at your destination before you know it and won't even need headphones.

Happy Flying!
