Holiday Card Etiquette:  Business

•   While it is correct to have your full name engraved or imprinted on the card, you should always personalize your cards with a short note or at the very least, a signature.

•   When a husband/ wife have cards imprinted, the wife's name always comes first if she uses her husbands’ last name.

•   When you address the envelope (Mr. & Mrs. John Grotts) never say “and family.”  Include the message for the family inside the card.

•   When mailing a card to a married couple, address to both even though you may only know one of the pair.  You can address in two lines whether they're married or not, formal or informal.

For example:

One line - Ms. Lisa Grotts
Second line - Mr. John Grotts
Or on one line – Mr. and Mrs. John Grotts

•   For business holiday cards, they are generally sent out to thank clients for their services.

•   These cards are usually printed with the name of the firm.

•   If you do send a business holiday card to someone's home, you must include the spouse’s name on the envelope (Mr. and Mrs. John Grotts).  If sent from the office, the clients name alone is proper.
