Etiquette of Receiving a Gift • When you receive a gift in person, always show your appreciation with a smile and follow up with a thank you note within 48 hours so the message is not forgotten. • If the gift was mailed, acknowledge its receipt with a telephone call and thank you note. Both acknowledge the effort of the sender and they know their gift did not get lost in the mail! • No matter if you like the gift (or re-gift), a thank you note is always in order. No exception!
