Concierge Etiquette

•   Think of a hotel concierge as an extension of your family.  Take care of them just as you would a member of your own family.  In other words, show your appreciation.

•   They can be of great source of information when on vacation or on a business trip.

•   Remember to take advantage of the services offered by a concierge They can be helpful with dining recommendations and reservations, air, hotel, auto rental reservations, purchasing event tickets and helping with special occasion gift assistance or household services.  Just about anything!

•   Tip at the onset of your trip vs. at the end.  This way, you’re likely to get better service.

•   Keep small bills available for the purpose of tipping.   Tip $5 to $20 in a first-rate hotel is a good rule of thumb depending on the concierge's efforts.  If one reservation was made for you, tip $5.  If they helped you throughout your stay, then $20 would be a nice reward for their efforts.

•   Always place the tip (cash) in an envelope with their name and seal it.  If possible, hand it to them in person.  If not, that’s the reason for the name and seal!

•   Make a mention of your gratitude when handing over the gratuity.
