Cell Phone Etiquette • Who can live without their cell phone? Not me. But that does not mean there should not be rules. • Don’t insist everyone listen to your personal phone conversations. Use in private when possible. • Don’t take calls during meetings or worse, interviews! • Do avoid loud, annoying ring tones. The world does not need to hear a mariachi band while at the dentist’s office. • Don’t dial your phone while driving. In many States cell phone use is illegal not to mention dangerous. The exception to this is hands free technology. • Do use your phone to assist in an emergency. • Do let your callers know you’re calling from a cell phone in case you’re disconnected or must hang up if it becomes unsafe. • Do use ear pieces but only in noisy locations that require you to amplify. • Do not talk on your cell phone while at public places such as restaurants, places of worship, doctor waiting rooms, hospitals, movie theaters, etc.
