Chewing Etiquette • Everyone enjoys a juicy piece of bubble gum every once in a while, but there are times when chewing is not appropriate. • Don’t chew gum in public, especially while carrying on a conversation. • Don’t chew gum while on the telephone. Your words will come out jumbled. • Don’t blow bubbles anytime, except in the privacy of your own home. • Only chew one piece of gum at a time. You can always have a second piece. • Don’t swallow your gum; dispose of it in a tissue. Smoking Etiquette • In California, the smoking laws are very prohibitive. • If smoking is allowed, here are some guidelines to follow. • If you don't see an ashtray, don't ask for one. • Never smoke at the table while others are eating even if it’s allowed. • Use common sense. If you must light up, excuse yourself and go out side or wait until the event is over. • Cigars and/ or pipes should not be smoked anywhere unless offered by a host.
